Bloomington Business Signs
Bloomington is a city located in the central-eastern region of the present-day U.S. state of Minnesota. Prior to incursions by those of European descent, this area was inhabited by members of the Ojibwa people and Mdewakanton Dakota. Peter and Louisa Quinn were the first settlers of European descent to arrive in the area in 1843. Eventually, the settlement the Quinns began came to be known as Bloomington, after Bloomington, Illinois. Bloomington, Minnesota was officially incorporated into a town in 1858 and then, eventually, into a city in 1960.

Both Bloomington, Minnesota’s economic and international acclaim both stem from the same institution. The Mall of America, which opened back in 1992, is located within the city and is the “third largest mall in North America in terms of leasable space, the largest mall in the United States in terms of total floor area, and the twelfth largest mall in the world.” Currently, it is managed by the Triple Five Group (owned by Canada’s Ghermezian brothers) and boasts more than 500 separate and distinct stores. Among those 500 stores are three anchor stores. Astoundingly, within the mall, there is even an indoor theme park: Nickelodeon Universe. Additionally, the Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium is also located within the Mall of America. Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium, which opened in 1996, features more than 10,000 animals and a whopping 1,200,000 gallon-volume of tanks. These tanks include a 300-foot (91 m) clear acrylic tunnel allowing visitors to “explore the underwater world while remaining dry.”
