Prior to incursions by those of European descent, this area was inhabited by members of the Ojibwa people and Mdewakanton Dakota. The Three Rivers Figure Skating Club operates out of the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center. The city of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota also boasts Hennepin Technical College and Rasmussen College.
