Interestingly, Warner Robins, Georgia’s official motto is “EDIMGIAFAD,” which is an acronym for “Every Day In Middle Georgia Is Armed Forces Appreciation Day.”  This is probably due to the fact that Warner Robins, Georgia’s economy is heavily skewed in favor of the armed forces.  In fact, Warner Robins, Georgia is home to Robins Air Force Base.

Robins Air Force Base is the largest single-site industrial complex in the state of Georgia.  Robins Air Force Base is, of course, controlled by the United States Air Force.  Built in 1942, this Air Force base garrisons the 78th Air Base Wing.  As with the city at large, this base was named in honor of Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins, who is considered the Air Force’s ‘Father of Logistics.’  Additionally, Robins Air Force Base is one of the largest employers in the entire state.  According to the Air Force, Robins Air Force Base directly contributes 25,000 military, civil service, and contractor jobs to the local economy.

Warner Robins, Georgia is also home to the Museum of Aviation, which was established in 1981.  The Museum of Aviation is located within Robins Air Force Base.  This museum is the second-largest aerospace museum operated by the United States Air Force.  The Museum of Aviation contains about 93 individual aircraft on 51 acres.  In fact, the SR-71A Blackbird on display at this particular museum has the current record when it comes to flight airspeed (1,905.91 knots; 2,193.2 mph; 3,529.6 km/h) back in July of 1976.

Warner Robins, Georgia is also known for its bustling sports scene.  In fact, in 1958, Claude Lewis, then director of the Warner Robins Recreation Department, invented the game of tee-ball.  The Warner Robins Little League has one Little League World Series Championship to their names, while the Warner Robins American Little League girls’ softball team has two Little League Softball World Series Championships to their names.  These softball championships were achieved back to back.  This makes Warner Robins, Georgia the only Little League to have won both a baseball and a softball title.
